The SciFi Chicklets meet the Weeping Angels
It's not until the end of the episode but as you know the Weeping Angels do quick, jerky cut aways to the "scary" faced Angels. The first time my girls saw this...
all HELL broke loose in my house!
One child was sitting at the table eating pizza she THREW her pizza across he room, screamed and flew into her daddy's arms! The other child, who was sitting next to me screamed and started to cry. I felt so bad! My little Scifi chicklets were truly freaked out! LUCKILY, the screams and tears quickly turned into laughter and all was fine. But, for about 10 seconds they had their very 1st "that scared the crap" out of me moment! When we talked about it later we all laughed so hard more tears came to our eyes... but not the sad or scared kind but rather the was hilarious kind of tears. The flying pizza part of the story had us howling in laughter. The Chicklets are now die hard fans of Doctor Who! Some times a little scare gives enough of a trill to make a return viewer! Well, played Sally Sparrow! You had us at "DON'T BLINK"!
This was a major topic of discussion at dinner on Friday. My little geeklit has not seen "Blink" yet. We all were impressed that your was brave! Interestingly, she will watch Hunger Games, but not Once Upon A Time. Thoughts?
ReplyDeleteHmm...maybe so knows instinctively that "Once Upon A Time" will eventually become a dreadful tv viewing experience! LOL, just kidding. I asked my kids a few weeks back, why the "Angels' scared them over the other hundreds of monsters in movies they see. .. because in my opinion those ring wraith's in LOTR are pretty freaking scary, and my girls were like "ya those are creepy". Anywhoo, based on our conversation I deduced that the quick sharp editing takes that added the extra scare.
DeleteAs for your geeklit being able to watch Hunger Games and not the fantasy stuff my guess is that it is people find fiction about the scary things we humans can inflict on each other fascinating. It's why we stare at car accidents and watch cop dramas. So, maybe after she's is done processing the idea human "boogie man" and the element of scare that provides then she'll be ready for the supernatural kind of scare. AND that ladies and gents is my completely, unsupported by facts opinion. :) Thanks for following! I am looking forward to our "chats"!
